Abstract

We have simulated the technological processes for the well formation in CMOS technology. The general problem of coupled impurities diffusion under oxidizing conditions has been treated by the finite‐element method. The obtained results have been compared to measured profiles. The study of the influence of the technological parameters on the well's structures allowed us to optimize the lateral diffusion, as well as the effects of the field oxidation.

Abstract

The coupled set of non‐linear 2D diffusion equations for donor and acceptor type impurities with initial and appropriated boundary conditions is solved by an implicit locally‐one dimensional finite difference method. Numerical experiments have been made to achieve a reasonable trade‐off between the desired accuracy and the CPU time. The algorithm was implemented to the process module of the 2‐D integrated process and device modeling system IMPEDANCE 2.0.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to focus on the changing nature of healthcare service encounters by studying the phenomenon of triadic engagement incorporating interactions between patients, local and virtual networks and healthcare professionals.

Design/methodology/approach

An 18-month longitudinal ethnographic study documents interactions in naturally occurring healthcare consultations. Professionals (n=13) and patients (n=24) within primary and secondary care units were recruited. Analysis of observations, field notes and interviews provides an integrated picture of triadic engagement.

Findings

Triadic engagement is conceptualised against a two-level framework. First, the structure of triadic consultations is identified in terms of the human voice, virtual voice and networked voice. These are related to: companions’ contributions to discussions and the virtual network impact. Second, evolving roles are mapped to three phases of transformation: enhancement; empowerment; emancipation. Triadic engagement varied across conditions.

Research limitations/implications

These changing roles and structures evidence an increasing emphasis on the responsible consumer and patients/companions to utilise information/support in making health-related decisions. The nature and role of third voices requires clear delineation.

Practical implications

Structures of consultations should be rethought around the diversity of patient/companion behaviours and expectations as patients undertake self-service activities. Implications for policy and practice are: the parallel set of local/virtual informational and service activities; a network orientation to healthcare; tailoring of support resources/guides for professionals and third parties to inform support practices.

Originality/value

Contributions are made to understanding triadic engagement and forwarding the agenda on patient-centred care. Longitudinal illumination of consultations is offered through an exceptional level of access to observe consultations.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this study is to enhance data quality and overall accuracy and improve certainty by reducing the negative impacts of the FCM algorithm while clustering real-world data and also decreasing the inherent noise in data sets.

Design/methodology/approach

The present study proposed a new effective model based on fuzzy C-means (FCM), ensemble filtering (ENS) and machine learning algorithms, called an FCM-ENS model. This model is mainly composed of three parts: noise detection, noise filtering and noise classification.

Findings

The performance of the proposed model was tested by conducting experiments on six data sets from the UCI repository. As shown by the obtained results, the proposed noise detection model very effectively detected the class noise and enhanced performance in case the identified class noisy instances were removed.

Originality/value

To the best of the authors’ knowledge, no effort has been made to improve the FCM algorithm in relation to class noise detection issues. Thus, the novelty of existing research is combining the FCM algorithm as a noise detection technique with ENS to reduce the negative effect of inherent noise and increase data quality and accuracy.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this study is to systematically review the state-of-art literature on the net-zero economy in the field of supply chain management.

Design/methodology/approach

A systematic literature review of 79 articles published from 2009 to 2021 has been conducted to minimise the researchers' bias and maximise the reliability and replicability of the study.

Findings

The thematic analysis reveals that studies in the field of net-zero economy have mostly been done on decarbonisation in the supply chain, emission control and life cycle analysis and environmental and energy management. The findings highlight the strong positive association between digitalisation, circular economy and resources optimization practices with net-zero economy goals. The study also addresses the challenges linked with the net-zero economy at the firm and country levels.

Research limitations/implications

Practitioners in companies and academics might find this review valuable as this study reviews, classifies and analyses the studies, outlines the evolution of literature and offers directions for future studies using the theory, methodology and context (TMC) framework.

Originality/value

This is the first study that uses a structured approach to analyse studies done in the net-zero field by assessing publications from 2009 to 2021.

Digital holography is used for in situ observation of the dynamic processes at the electrode | electrolyte interface and on the electrode surface during the corrosion dissolution of metallic materials.

Findings

Digital holography is an effect method to in situ observe the corrosion processes, and it can provide a direct experimental foundation for studying the corrosion mechanism.

Originality/value

Even though there are several challenges, digital holography will play a significant role in studying corrosion processes.
